Sky calendar
Not an exhaustive ephemeris — a short list of things worth going outside for, sorted by month, with an honest note on how hard each one actually is from a light-polluted garden.

| Mar | Beehive Cluster (M44) | Naked-eye smudge under dark skies, a field of stars in binoculars. | easy |
| Apr | Lyrid meteors | Modest rates, but the radiant is high and the nights are no longer freezing. | easy |
| May | Globular cluster M13 | A fuzzy ball in binoculars; grainy and beautiful in a 130mm scope. | moderate |
| Jun | Noctilucent clouds | Electric-blue tendrils low in the north around midnight. Nothing else looks like them. | easy |
| Jul | Milky Way core | Requires a genuinely dark site, but on the right night it casts a shadow. | hard |
| Aug | Perseid meteors | The reliable one. Lie down, look up, no equipment, no charts. | easy |
| Sep now | Saturn at opposition | Rings visible in almost any telescope. The moment most people are hooked. | easy |
| Oct | Andromeda high overhead | Best placed of the year. Use averted vision and low power. | moderate |
| Nov | Pleiades (M45) | Six or seven stars naked eye, dozens in binoculars. Never gets old. | easy |
| Dec | Geminid meteors | Arguably better than the Perseids — slower, brighter, and often overlooked because of the cold. | easy |
Meteor shower dates shift by a day or so year to year, and everything here assumes northern mid-latitudes. Southern hemisphere observers get a better Milky Way and a worse Andromeda — the trade is roughly fair.
