01What we collect

Backyard Sky is a set of static observing notes. We do not ask you to register, we run no advertising network, and we set no tracking or profiling cookies. If you never write to us, we hold nothing that identifies you.

02Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web-server entries for every request: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, referrer and browser user-agent. These are used to keep the site online and to investigate abuse or errors. They are not combined with anything else and are rotated automatically.

03Email

If you write to [email protected] we keep your message so we can reply and, where a correction is involved, so we can check we actually made the change. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list — there is no mailing list. Ask us to delete a thread and we will.

04Third parties

The site is served through a content delivery network, which processes request metadata (including IP address) on our behalf in order to deliver pages and absorb malicious traffic. We embed no social widgets, no analytics scripts and no third-party fonts, so no other party sees your visit.

05Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold, to have it corrected, or to have it erased. Since the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you sent us, such a request is usually satisfied by deleting that thread. Write to the address above.

06Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page rather than silently editing it.
